...CHAMPAIGN – A local chapter of the tea party is brewing anew.
The conservative, small-government group, which peaked in popularity last spring with a tax day rally at Champaign's West Side Park, has reorganized and will begin holding monthly meetings. The first is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Champaign Public Library's Robeson Pavilion Rooms, according to Frank Barham of Champaign, chair of the group.
"We're nonpartisan and we can't support any particular candidate and we do not want to do that," he said, "but we are conservative-thinking individuals. We're for capitalism, and we decry socialism. We'll have speakers who share the same conservative viewpoints that we do."Read that again..
"We're for capitalism, and we decry socialism."
Where's their meeting at?
Why, it's at the Champaign Public Library.
Champaign Public Library offers free books, DVDs, CDs, downloadables, family events, research resources, a used book store, Latte Da! Cafe, and more.Apparently, the local chapter of "people who only want to pay selective taxes" don't realize how stupid they are.
If they truly decry socialism, they should be standing in front of the library picketing, instead of having their meetings inside.
Back to the article...
Two outdoor tea party rallies in Champaign have already been scheduled: April 15 at West Side Park and July 3 at Hessel Park.Oh, public parks are also socialist.
