The Aveo turns 99999

That's right, the I'mNotGay-O has reached a milestone.

This morning, on the drive to work, the odometer reached 99,999 miles. (sure most people would care about it turning 100,000 but I like multiples of 9)

I got the car in April of 2005. So it's almost 5 years old. I've averaged around 20,000 miles a year. Lots of stuff has happened to me in that time. My car has been with me for a lot of it. In fact, a whole lot of things have happened in that car.

It's gone to Great Taste of the Midwest twice. It's gone to Dark Lord Day three times. It's gone to Georgia several times. It's gone to Asheville, NC several times. It's gone to St. Louis several times.

Who knows how many times it's been to Chicago for Cubs games and a Bears game. It's been to Green Bay for a couple of Packers games. It's been up to Iron Mountain, Michigan.

It's been through Wisconsin to several breweries. It's been to Indiana to several breweries. This car has carried several thousand dollars worth of beer. It's probably carried more Dark Lord in it, than any vehicle ever (that's not owned by Three Floyds).

It hasn't all been great. Shortly after signing for it, I heard some of the worst news, when the ex said "when we sell the house, I'm not moving with you". It was from the car, that I took the dogs and went down to the beach and watched people tour through the house (before we sold it).

Mostly, its been good things. Lots of beer. A few too many times getting home and thinking, "that wasn't a good idea".

It's a good car.

If you have any stories that happened in/with it, please share.

Irony at it's douchebaggery best

Local tea party chapter will meet monthly (from the News-Gazette)

CHAMPAIGN – A local chapter of the tea party is brewing anew.

The conservative, small-government group, which peaked in popularity last spring with a tax day rally at Champaign's West Side Park, has reorganized and will begin holding monthly meetings. The first is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Champaign Public Library's Robeson Pavilion Rooms, according to Frank Barham of Champaign, chair of the group.

...

"We're nonpartisan and we can't support any particular candidate and we do not want to do that," he said, "but we are conservative-thinking individuals. We're for capitalism, and we decry socialism. We'll have speakers who share the same conservative viewpoints that we do."
Read that again..

"We're for capitalism, and we decry socialism."

Where's their meeting at?

Why, it's at the Champaign Public Library.

Champaign Public Library offers free books, DVDs, CDs, downloadables, family events, research resources, a used book store, Latte Da! Cafe, and more.
Apparently, the local chapter of "people who only want to pay selective taxes" don't realize how stupid they are.

If they truly decry socialism, they should be standing in front of the library picketing, instead of having their meetings inside.

Back to the article...

Two outdoor tea party rallies in Champaign have already been scheduled: April 15 at West Side Park and July 3 at Hessel Park.
Oh, public parks are also socialist.

Wines at the Pines

From WCIA, channel 3.

The Wines at the Pines website.

Tonight from 5-8 will be their Wines for the Doldrums of Winter tasting.

Join us Friday from 5-8 pm as we taste wines from California, France, and Argentina. We’ll kick off the line-up with 2 whites: Brander 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and Clayhouse’s 2008 Adobe White. For the red wine lovers, we’ll taste Hitching Post’s 2006 “Bien Nacido” Pinot Noir, a 2006 Bordeaux from Chateau Lagarosse, and a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend from Valle Perdido. We will also have cheese and hummus plates available, as well as olive boats. For a sweet treat, try one of our homemade chocolate truffles or chocolate mousse in a Valrhona chocolate shell. Cheers!
